Cavani To United: Is The Uruguayan Old Trafford Bound?

Earlier today Gianluca Di Marzio broke the news that Manchester United are in talks to sign Edinson Cavani. The 33 year old become a free agent after leaving PSG in July. He rejected an offer from Benfica and other clubs across Europe and as a result is still on the market.

The Uruguayan forward is very reliable as far as goal scorers are concerned. Cavani spent 7 years at French giants PSG where he played 200 games scoring 138 goals. Overall in his whole career he has played 438 games scoring 353 goals which is an incredible return.

He is strong, clever and a real threat in the air and he would certainly cause problems in the Premier League. He would offer welcome competition to Anthony Martial and would certainly give United a different attacking option.

If United were to move for Cavani the only stumbling block would be the players wage demands. It was rumored that he was earning €355,000 per week at PSG. Surely if he requested this amount United would walk away? If United could work out a reasonable wage structure with the 33 year old it would be a very smart signing.

Cavani is one of the most experienced centre forwards around and would have no problem scoring goals in the Premier League. His physical presence would cause many problems and would also create space for others around him. Time will tell if United make a move but with only 6 days of the window left they need to move fast!
