David Carmo to United? Who and where does he play?

David Carmo

United have been unbelievably excellent in attack this season, but defensive woes continues to be a problem. United seem to be targeting a center back in order to fix these issues; specifically a left footed center back.

David Carmo from SC Braga is one of the names linked to united:

Who is he?

Carmo was born on 19th July 1999 in Aveiro Portugal. The 21 year old is predominantly left footed and therefore plays as a left sided center back. He only just broke out into the first team in January of 2020 and has already established himself as a main stake in the team. He has an incredible stature, standing at 6ft 5 inches which makes him a threat aerially. Carmo is an incredible tackler something similar to Wan Bissaka and makes 2.2 tackles per game.

How will he fit in at Utd?

United have been absolutely dreadful when defending from set pieces of late, with the arrival of Davide Carmo that problem can be solved with immediate effect. His aerial ability paired with his composure both on and off the ball will drastically improve united’s defense.

Its a known fact that the united manager prefers to play with 2 ball playing center backs. David Carmo will fulfill just that. He is an incredible ball playing defender and can provide cover to the midfielders when they attack. His recovery speed is incredible. This will for sure be an asset as Maguire is not really fast.

United’s expected lineup:

How has he performed so far?

Carmo’s been one of the best performers for SC Braga ever since he’s started. He has even won the U19 Euro in that span. Carmo’s in 13 appearances has made 2.2 tackles p/g, 1.5 interceptions p/g and made 3.2 clearances p/g. Offensively he has contributed with 6.2 long balls per game and has a passing accuracy of 83.2%

How much would he cost?

Realistically after the sale of Trincao to Barcelona, the acquisition of Carmo midseason would extremely expensive as they would expect a mouth watering fee for a deal to be struck.

He has a market value of 6.00 million as set by transfermarkt and would definitely cost at least 35.00 million to be bought.

Should united strike a deal?

In my opinion United should most certainly bring Carmo to Old Trafford as he would be an incredible acquisition in terms of skillset and would fix up a whole load of flaws present currently at the team.

For 35 million it would be a no brainer!
