Kieran Trippier has recently been linked with a surprise move to Manchester United. The 30 year old right back swapped the Premier League for La Liga in 2019 when he left Tottenham to join Atletico Madrid. In his first season he played 33 games with 25 of them coming in the league. This season he’s played 7 of Madrid’s 10 games in the league and they currently sit top of La Liga.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is United’s first choice RB and he certainly hasn’t done anything wrong, infact he’s been one of United’s best and most consistent players for a long time now. But with him having no direct competition there’s always a chance of complacency and if he was to get Injured United would be struggling at that area of the pitch.
If Trippier did sign would the back 5 we’ve seen before become a permanent thing? Time will tell. It’s certainly something that could work with Telles and Trippier as attacking full backs and Wan Bissaka as the third centre back. Sound good United fans?
Trippier has a contract with Atletico Madrid until July 2022 but time will tell if he sees that contract out. The 30 year old has bags of Premier League experience and could turn out to be a very good signing for Solskjaer and United.
