Man United Women kick off their 2021/2022 season with a game against Reading on Friday.
Having brought in five players and appointing a new manager, the club had a busy transfer window. But, with a limited number of forwards, the team is still short of positions to fill. And it is likely there are no more signings coming in this season, with the transfer window closing today.
In an interview with Sports Journalist Asif Burhan, Marc Skinner spoke about the club’s transfer:
We won’t be active, I don’t feel, in this moment. The beauty of this club is they already pre-plan and think longer than this window. We will identify players that we want to add to this group, but maybe just not in this window”Marc Skinner
Some of the fans are skeptical going into the new season, seeing an injury to one or two of the players would prove detrimental to the team.
There were pleas from fans for the club to sign a forward in the transfer window. Amongst their preferred forwards was Stina Blackstenius. The 25 year old Swedish forward, who performed well at the Tokyo Olympics, was seen as a perfect fit for the team.
There were also rumors of Tobin Heath coming back to England, and united fans were also seen asking the club to bring her back.
TRANSFER WINDOW RATING
The transfer window was good, but not so great. I will be giving it a 7/10 rating. Would have loved a striker and a winger to add to what we have already.
We can only pray the players stay fit throughout the season and hope we make a proper challenge for the top spot.
