Manchester United are monitoring the progress of Dundee United youngster Kerr Smith as they look to add to their ever growing youth academy. Smith has come through the ranks at Dundee United and he made five first team appearances last season where he made quite an impression. The 16 year old is a tenacious midfielder by trade but with his aerial ability he can also play as a centre back if needed.
In August 2020 Smith had trials with Manchester United and Aston Villa before eventually signing his first professional contract with Dundee United. The youngster has a contract until 2023 but a clause in his contract could see him leave for £500,000. Leicester City are also interested in Kerr Smith and would be more than happy to pay the release clause in the youngsters contract to bring him to the King Power Stadium.
At the age of 16 Smith has a big decision to make in the upcoming weeks. Does he stay in Scotland for a further two more years and get more first team experience under his belt. Or does he take the plunge and join the youth set up of either Manchester United or Leicester City? It’s a big decision for someone so young and he will be thinking long and hard about what direction to take over the summer.
