Manchester United will play their last home game of the Premier League season as we host Fulham at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening. The match kicks off at 18:00PM BST. The game can be watched live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League with coverage starting at 17:00 PM.

The Red Devils will be looking to return to winning ways after suffering back-to-back defeats at home. With Champions League qualification in the bag, it is now about achieving the crucial three points out of the last two games to secure second place in the Premier League. United has made huge progress under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær this season. We will want to finish the campaign on a high as we have the chance to lift major silverware when we take on Villarreal in the Europa League on May 26th.

Make sure to catch our preview of the game in the link above.

We are four points clear of third-place Leicester City. A win against Fulham would make sure of second place. United enter this game after losing 2-1 to Leicester City and 4-2 to Liverpool in their last two league fixtures, both coming at Old Trafford. After the Fulham game, we will finish our league campaign with an away trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Return of the fans

United have so far been unbeaten away from home this season and will want to maintain this record. Whilst our away form has been excellent, we have seen six league defeats at Old Trafford. The welcome sight of 10,000 fans inside the stadium on Tuesday evening should give a boost to the team.

United will be welcoming back fans in a reduced capacity for the Fulham game as 10,000 supporters will be inside Old Trafford.

Manchester United Team News

For United, we will be without the services of captain Harry Maguire, Daniel James, and long-term absentee Phil Jones. With regards to Maguire, he will not feature in any of the remaining league games. It is hoped he will play in the Europa League come May 26th.

Photos released from the United’s first-team training revealed that Anthony Martial is now back after suffering a knee injury whilst on international duty for France at the end of March. The game against Fulham might be a bit too soon for the Frenchman but could play some part of the last league game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær is expected to rest some of the key players against Wolves at the weekend. So it should be a pretty strong lineup against Fulham as we build confidence towards the Europa League final.

Axel Tuanzebe could be potentially handed a place in the starting eleven at the back. Paul Pogba could drop back into the midfield two alongside Scott McTominay. This would allow Marcus Rashford to play out from the left. Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood are likely to lead the United attack.

Opposition Preview

For the fans of Fulham, it has been a dismal season back inside the top-flight. The Cottagers have only secured five wins from their 36 matches in the league and have been relegated back to the Championship. A while ago, they had threatened to pull themselves out of the relegation zone after they achieved a shock 1-0 win against Liverpool back on March 7th.

However, they have achieved just one point from their last eight games and come to Old Trafford after suffering three consecutive defeats to Chelsea, Burnley and Southampton. Manager Scott Parker wants to stay with the club and it seems he will be given the opportunity to lead Fulham back into the top-flight at the first time of asking.

Preparations are being made for their return to the Championship as a number of players will move on from the club during the summer transfer window. Even though they are relegated, Fulham will want to give their fans something to cheer about in their last two league games at United, followed by a home against Newcastle United.

Fulham Team News

For our opponents, Tom Cairney and Terence Kongolo are unavailable due to injury. Mario Lemina will return to the squad after he was ineligible to face parent club Southampton on Saturday. Manager Scott Parker could possibly decide to go with a back four against United. There could be another start for youngster Fabio Carvalho, who had scored at the weekend against the Saints.

There could be a place in the starting eleven for forward Aleksandar Mitrovic. He has just scored three Premier League goals this season. He could be a big player for the Cottagers if he was to remain with the club when they return to the Championship.

Match Stats

  • Manchester United have won 18 of the past 22 top-flight meetings against Fulham and are unbeaten in 12. (source: BBC Sport).
  • Only Eric Cantona (46) and Robin van Persie (45) have been involved in more goals in their first 50 appearances for Manchester United than Bruno Fernandes, who has 26 goals and 18 assists. (source: BBC Sport).

Predicted score

It is hard to imagine that this will not be all one-way traffic from United. It is just a question of how many we will score. Fulham who are already relegated and are making their plans for the return to the Championship. If United does take the lead early on, I do not expect us to sit back on this. Instead, I think we will play with a high intensity up until the last 15 minutes or so of the game when we can consider making changes as we look ahead to the game of the Europa League final the following week.
