Manchester United will continue their pre-season ahead of the 2021/22 campaign with a trip to Loftus Road on Saturday afternoon as we take on Championship side Queens Park Rangers. The match kicks off at 15:00PM BST. The game can be watched live in the UK on MUTV with coverage starting at 14:00 PM.
The Red Devils secured a 2-1 victory in our first pre-season game against Derby County last Sunday. This was thanks to goals from Tahith Chong and Facundo Pellistri. After taking on QPR, we then have friendlies against Brentford and Preston North End. Our final pre-season game will see us play Everton, a week before the new Premier League season kicks off.
United has already agreed to the transfer of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. More players are expected to arrive in the coming weeks, with a deal for Real Madrid’s centre back Raphael Varane in the pipeline. It is believed that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær is also targeting players in the positions of right-back and central midfield before the transfer window closes.
Our squad is still not at full strength due to injuries and those players who competed at Euro 2020 and Copa America. However, Scott McTominay and Daniel James have come back into the team following their participation at the Euros. Meanwhile, Anthony Martial and Donny Van De Beek are now back in training following their respective injuries.

For United, Scott McTominay and Daniel James are back with the squad. They may feature in some part of this game. They are more than likely to be coming off the bench for the second half. Anthony Martial and Donny Van De Beek are in training back at Carrington. So they are unlikely to be involved in this pre-season friendly.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær has said that Jesse Lingard is in his plans for the season ahead and so is expected to play from the start at Loftus Road. Juan Mata, Mason Greenwood, Nemanja Matic, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could also be in the starting eleven.
Two of the younger players in James Garner and Shola Shoretire will be hoping to make an impression during these pre-season games. Meanwhile, Andreas Pereira and Facundo Pellistri are trying to convince Solskjær that they deserved to be in the first team ahead of the new season.
Manchester United’s Predicted Lineup
Heaton; Wan-Bissaka, Tuanzebe, Mengi, Telles; Matic, Garner, Shoretire; Mata, Greenwood, and Lingard.
Queens Park Rangers began their pre-season with a 2-1 victory over Portsmouth on July 7th with goals from Marco Ramkilde and Olamide Shodipo. They had been due to play their second pre-season game against Gillingham on July 16th. However, an outbreak of coronavirus in the Gillingham team meant the match had to be called off.
This has meant it has been a good couple of weeks since QPR last played. After taking on United, they will have games against Cambridge United and Leicester City respectively. They begin the 2021/22 Championship season with a home match against Millwall on August 7th.
A few new faces are expected to come through the door ahead of the campaign. QPR has been busy in the transfer window with Andre Dozzell, Charlie Austin, Jordan Archer, and Sam Field joining the club.
Queens Park Rangers Team News
For our opponents, manager Mark Warburton will have the full use of his squad and it is likely we will see two different teams in both halves of this game. Forward Charlie Austin might be joined up with Charlie Kelman in the attack, whilst Andre Dozzell could be handed a start following his transfer from Ipswich Town. Marco Ramkilde who scored against Portsmouth is expected to play some part.
