Should Manchester United Go All Out For Sevilla Defender Jules Kounde?

Jules Kounde is a French Footballer who currently plays for Sevilla. He joined the Spanish side in 2019 and in his first season went on to win the Europa League and was also named in the UEFA Europa squad of the season.

Kounde has formed a formidable partnership with team mate Diego Carlos at the heart of the Sevilla defence and the Spanish side have only conceded 16 goals in La Liga so far this season. Kounde has had a solid two years at Sevilla and as a result has attracted interest from elsewhere. A number of clubs from around Europe have been heavily linked with the young CB, especially Manchester United.

United’s CB pairing of Lindelof and Maguire isn’t a bad one, but neither have great pace and it’s been an issue for a long time. The ideal partner for Maguire would be the pacey Eric Bailly. The Ivorian has partnered Maguire on a number of occasions this season and when together they look the perfect match. The only problem is that Bailly can’t keep fit! Like Bailly, Kounde possess great pace, is strong in the air and is comfortable in possession of the ball. He certainly seems like he could be the perfect partner for United captain Harry Maguire.

Various reports suggest that Seviila have set an asking price of £68 million for Jules Kounde. At just 22 the Frenchman still has his best years ahead of him and would be a solid investment. United have to prioritize signing a CB this season and everything points to Kounde being the one they should go for.
